Phase Shift

Phase shift occurs when duplicate signals are offset by fractions of a second.  This video will discuss the resulting sound  that occurs in Phasers.

If you have watched our section on microphone phase and signal phase, you know that the resulting sound of a delay in sound reaching a microphone or signal reaching an output and combining with an identical non-delayed signal, can lead to an undesirable sound.  However, the sound that is created is quite unique and can of course, as with any situation, can be desirable as an effect.  We will discuss what happens to sound when phase is shifted and what can be done with the resulting “Comb Filter” that is created.
